Highlight the Bench of Elect Black Women PAC Judicial Candidates
Bench building is important for any organization. However, when it comes to addressing the underrepresentation of Black women in elected office, bench building is critical.
Our communities need empathetic leaders in critical decision-making in our judicial system. A judge has the power to transform the lives of individuals for the better or, the worse. Communities deserve leaders that are already serving in a proximate way to the challenges of working class, hard-working families in their community.
Elect Black Women PAC is proud to highlight Maraleen Shields and her run for Lehigh County Judge in the Court of Common Pleas. Maraleen has experience as a litigator, a C-suite decision maker, and is a community-centered leader that families can depend on to make the right decisions in our judicial system. Maraleen has handled various matters, including healthcare business disputes, municipal liability, class action litigation, personal injury matters, contract disputes, and general complex litigation. She also has handled all phases of litigation and appellate practice.
Maraleen — a mother of two, wife, and servant leader — frequently speaks regarding diversity, equity and inclusion, litigation, and healthcare matters.
Our judicial system must be fairer. When our judges reflect the vibrant communities they serve, a judge can restore trust across our entire community in the outcomes of court decisions. Unfortunately, confidence in our judicial system is on the decline because we need everyday people to vote for change. We need to look to new and more representative leadership to restore belief in the laws and foundation that built our incredible country. We believe that Maraleen Shields is the right leader to do that work in service of the citizens of Lehigh Valley.

Polls are open May 18 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters can find their polling place by visiting www.pavoterservices.pa.gov or calling their county election office.

Mail-in ballots must be in possession of the correct county elections office by 8 p.m. May 18 to be counted. Election officials recommend you mail your ballot several days in advance to ensure delivery.
The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is May 11. Election officials say voters waiting that long to apply may be best served requesting their ballot in person and turning it in on the same day. The county election offices are located at:

Voters may turn in their ballot at a dropbox. Ballots must be in the drop boxes by 8 p.m. May 18.
