Never Count Marché Johnson Out
On August 27, 2019, Marché Johnson was six votes away from an election day victory.
Six votes. No recount.
After a hard-fought campaign and a runoff election, Marché Johnson was forced to accept that six votes stood between her and a seat on the Montgomery City Council. But that election day loss was merely a setback and Marché continued to serve her community.
Then in January 2021, the nearly 18-year incumbent, Tracy Larkin, passed away. His death opened the seat for a special election that 7 candidates are vying for, yet only one has the service record and experience. Only one came within 6 votes of winning this seat a year and a half prior.
Elect Black Women PAC is proud to endorse Marché Johnson to serve District 3 on the Montgomery City Council.
Marché is an Army veteran who served three tours, a Six Sigma Black Belt, and a community advocate. She was born and raised in Trenholm Court and Sheridan Heights and is a product of the Northern Montgomery Public School system.
Her mother passed away when she was younger. As such, she understands the deeply rooted family found within a community. It’s why even a year and a half later, she still wants to serve District 3 on the Montgomery City Council. She wants to give back to a community that has given so much to her.
Marché earned many awards and Commendations during her time in the Army, serving in the Maysan Province in Iraq and Kandahar, Afghanistan. She earned three Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, two Army Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, and the Army Service Ribbon.
Not to leave out that while she was in the Army, she also earned her bachelor’s degree of Science in Psychology from Troy University.
Marché is a veteran who will get the job done.
Her four main initiatives are infrastructure, community access/resources, economic development, and food deserts. She will work to bring job placement initiatives, youth programs, financial literacy resources, and increase community property values.
Tuesday, March 23, 2021, Marché will get her second chance.
